About the Role
The Australian War Memorial is seeking a dynamic Head Chef to lead our culinary operations across multiple outlets on site. You will oversee two distinct cafés, each with its own style and menu, and manage sit-down events for up to 600 guests, operating from two brand-new, state of the art kitchens.

- Strong operational acumen in stock control, kitchen systems and quality assurance
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all kitchen operations across two on-site cafés, ensuring consistency and excellence in both concepts
- Plan, execute and oversee sit-down functions for up to 600 guests, tailoring menus and service to each event’s requirements
- Recruit, train and mentor a high-performing brigade, fostering a positive, growth-focused culture
- Develop and refine menus that reflect each café’s unique identity while maintaining the highest standards of creativity and presentation
- Drive innovation through seasonal specials, cost-effective sourcing and contemporary culinary trends
- Oversee food-safety compliance, stock management and budgetary targets
- Collaborate with Memorial stakeholders to deliver bespoke catering for VIP functions and public events
Essential Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) with extensive leadership experience
- Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and Food Handler’s Certificate
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple outlets, large-scale events and complex rosters
